Nicole Abbett is a Tampa based artist working with film and digital media photographic processes. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in photography. Inspired by her surrounds, Nicole finds ways to recreate the familiar and locate memory. People, historic sites, and abandoned buildings are fertile ground to support her creative vision. Her uses of traditional photographic methods often merge to create evocative photographs into a compression of time, which create an illusion between historic reality and the present day. This laying or visual collapse constructs questions to engage the viewer to ponder and participate. Pushing the visual boundaries beyond our perception of what is real excites and fuels Nicole’s work.
