37TH CLEARWATER JAZZ HOLIDAY 2015
I had the pleasure of shooting Langhorne Slim & the Law and the Avett Brothers this past Sunday night at the 37th Clearwater Jazz Holiday. Langhorne Slim literally brought his soulful spirit into the audience by climbing down from the stage, hopping over barricades, and walking around belting his tunes from atop of chairs. The crowd was full of all kinds of emotions by the time the folk rock band from North Carolina, The Avett Brothers, hit the stage. Check out my photo recap here.
COUNCIL OAK’S BARREL AGED COCKTAIL DINNER
While at the Social Fresh Conference last week, I was inspired by a dear friend to start posting on my blog again. My job takes me to a lot of great places and I miss sharing the experiences with everyone. To put it nicely, I stopped sharing on my blog and other social media outlets as I had an unwanted pursuer. Cyberstalking, phone/text stalking, email stalking, etc. are easy things to do living in today’s information era. Keep in mind at the end of the day, it’s still a crime. Enough of that nonsense. Let’s get on with what I want to share.
Every month Council Oak Steaks & Seafood, located inside of Seminole Hard Rock Tampa, hosts a themed dinner. This month’s dinner featured Barrel Aged Cocktails. Executive Chef Bill Gideon, Executive Sui Chef Mike Balles, along with Executive Sui Chef Omar Torres and the ‘Sweet Genius’ Pastry Chef Chef Alon Gontowski combined forces to bring their culinary expertise to the tables creating an intimate, educational dinner. Each guest was sent home with an already week-aged 2-liter barrel of featuring a Crown Royal Rye Manhattan. Chef Mike Balles was oh so kind to engrave my Instagram handle with a soldering iron onto the barrel. Thanks again Chef Balles!

CONTAIN IT!
This past weekend I was a part of the CONTAIN IT! art show at the Dunedin Fine Art Center and boy, did I have a great time! CONTAIN IT!, art installations made of PODS storage units, were part of a two-day event that also included the Trashy Treasures Art Auction, food trucks, craft beer, and an art supply sale. I got to show off some of my art, met a lot of great artists, and came home with a few trashy treasures of my own. TALIB KWELI WITH DYNASTY AND JINX
Brooklyn-bred rapper Talib Kweli headlined DJ Sandman’s Birthday party “I AM HIP HOP” show Saturday night at Crowbar in Ybor City. The sold out show was put on by Thx Mgmt & TampaHipHop and also featured the beautiful and talented Tampa artist Dynasty (who has performed with Kweli before), The Villanz, Jinx, DJ Fader and DJ Sandman. At Thursday night’s Lightning game vs the Ottawa Senators, the Tampa Bay Lightning Organization honored me and my artwork during the 1st intermission. Back in October I placed fourth out of over 350 artists who submitted artwork in their 2nd Annual Celebration of the Arts competition. The jurors were from The Tampa Museum of Art, The St. Pete Fine Arts Museum, The Dali Museum, The Ringling Museum, and also included the owner’s wife who is a strong supporter of the arts, Mrs. Penny Vinik. I am more than honored to have been presented an award two years in a row!
Bike sharing coming to Tampa this Spring
Just a few days after the Bixi Bike Sharing Bankruptcy announcement, it was announced that bike sharing will be coming Tampa. Fortunately for us, it’s being delivered by a different company. Almost everything was shut down from Boston to New York during the frozen-fury the Hercules Blizzard blew in. The snow started just before midnight on Wednesday night and ended Friday around noon. Thursday evening Highway 84 was shut down. This major road connects Boston and New York. Friday’s temps hit a low of -8 degrees without the windchill. Brrrrr!
